We are pleased to announce the upcoming launch of the Squad website in early 2015. The website will be the main portal for information related to Squad and will work alongside the forum to give the community the most up-to-date information on the project. The website will include a visual roadmap of Squad development and feature progress reporting, so you can track the status of upcoming features in Squad. And, of course, the website will be the public face of Squad. The website will be a vital component for growing our community and we are looking forward to the launch!
Along with the website, we are excited to announce our first fundraising effort for Squad. We will be launching a fundraising campaign on the Squad website shortly after its launch, and this campaign will form an important part of the overall funding initiative for Squad. A Kickstarter campaign remains on our roadmap for 2015, but the date remains TBD. These funding programs will allow us to bring more of our developers into full-time roles and kick development into high gear. We will be giving updates on Squad funding in upcoming weeks, so stay tuned.
We have mentioned releasing a demo in December in one of our previous announcements. We have since decided against releasing a demo. We want additional time to flesh out our core gameplay and finish more content to get Squad into a state that we’re happy with releasing to our audience. Until we add more critical features and form a continuous release process, we will be unsatisfied with releasing the game to you. We’re making great progress with the game, and will continue to post progress updates so you can stay up-to-date with all the latest features and content that we’ll be putting into Squad.
Finally, near the end of this week we completed a migration of the forum we have been planning to do for some time. As you may have noticed, the forum was taken offline twice as the result of a set of particularly heavy DDoS attacks during the week. We decided to expedite our migration of the forum in light of the attacks, and have since relocated and revamped the forum to handle future attacks much more effectively. If there are any further outages on these forums due to either our new hosting setup or any more DDoS attempts, please bear with us. Thank you for your support, and we'll do our best to keep you updated!
